Ten postgraduate students majoring in physics were selected to participate in the Basic Training Programme in Madagascar.

Delivered by Dr Sandra Etoka from the University of Manchester and Dr Zara Randriamanakoto from the South African Astronomical Observatory, the fourth unit of the training was held in the Institute and Observatory of Geophysics in Antananarivo from July 01 to July 12, 2019.

During the two week intensive training, various lectures on radio interferometry and the fundamentals of radio astronomy were covered along with data reduction and imaging workshops. The students also participated in informal discussions on academic life and how to conduct a systematic literature review. The event concluded with brief recapitulation exercises followed by the DARA certificate award ceremony.
